Pacific Islands Ocean Conference

​The Pacific Islands Conference on Ocean Science and Ocean Management (PICOSOM) is a regional event dedicated to fostering meaningful dialogue on ocean-related issues. This conference brings together a diverse group of participants, including Pacific Ocean managers, scientists, traditional knowledge holders, and Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs), to collaborate and address the pressing ocean challenges facing the region.

Key objectives include:

• Providing a platform for showcasing scientific work.
• Assessing integrated ocean management across Pacific Island Countries.
• Showcasing success stories and lessons learned from marine conservation projects in the Pacific region.
• Advocating for the inclusion of marginalized voices, such as women, youth, and indigenous communities, in ocean management strategies.
• Strengthening capacity-building efforts for local and regional stakeholders.
