The Federated States of Micronesia heavily relies on the importation of fossil fuels for energy generation across the country. A bulk use of this is to supply generators and to power energy systems.
The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the Federated States of Micronesia project contributes to the FSM's Energy Master Plan focused on rapidly boosting access to energy for its peoples whilst reducing the reliance on fossil fuel imports to drive energy supply.
This project also contributes to making energy access cheaper across FSM by reducing the use of fossil fuels and flipping the switch to renewable energy sources.
The €11.6million project will ensure communities across the country, particularly those in the State of Chuuk, have improved access to affordable, reliant, and environmentally sound energy services into the future. This includes boosting private sector partnerships and investment to drive longer-term solutions for energy supply into the future.
