Pacific Islands Emergency Management Alliance (PIEMA)

Supported by the New Zealand and Australia governments, The Pacific Islands Emergency Management Alliance (PIEMA) is at the forefront of emergency and disaster management training across the Pacific. Through its partnerships, PIEMA leads the way in strengthening preparedness, the response to, and recovery from emergencies and disasters.

Working closely with National Disaster Management offices and key emergency management agencies, the PIEMA project implements capacity-building activities to strengthen collaboration, communication, and consistent methodology, which ultimately leads to an increase in effectiveness when responding to disasters.

While technology, infrastructure and equipment are important, the emphasis of this project is on the people working in the sector, by improving interactions between Pacific emergency management agencies to influence change that builds trust, leadership, and teamwork.

PIEMA is proud to support gender diversity and empowerment in the emergency management sector.
