Pacific Catastrophe Risk Assessment and Financing Initiative( PCRAFI) Program is a comprehensive, regional effort to increase the financial resilience to climate and disaster risks in the Pacific. An initial phase of PCRAFI was launched in 2007 and The PCRAFI Program - Phase II: Furthering Disaster Risk Finance in the Pacific was launched in April 2016. Phase II of the PCRAFI Program builds on the initial phase of the PCRAFI and includes two key pillars: (i) the PCRAFI facility and (ii) the PCRAFI Technical Assistance Program.  Under the Capacity Building on the Hazard and Exposure Database for PCRAFI Project, SPC will work with countries to update data in the Pacific  Risk Information System (PacRIS) through in-country exposure and impact surveys using country resources. SPC will build data collection capacity in countries and also provide assistance to enable them to identify and plan and work within their resources to collect their own exposure data. By doing this, countries will be able to update their own future exposure and impact data. SPC will work with countries to illustrate the use and benefits of risk information through case studies. SPC GEM DCRP Program is implementing the Capacity Building on the Hazard and Exposure Database for PCRAFI Project under Pillar (ii).
