PaRTneR-2 is working across six Pacific Island Countries (PICs) to build the capability to make risk-informed and effective development decisions. It is advancing a shared understanding of the different needs for climate risk information and co-developing national risk models and assessment tools with PICs.
The project involves collaborating with central government agencies in each country to identify their risk-information needs and priorities and developing the required skills and capacity within technical line ministries to deliver actionable information to meet these needs.
Key Objectives
The project aims to address a critical gap across the Pacific region in the availability and use of low-cost and easily applied tools for risk-informed decisions.
By developing a shared understanding of climate risk information needs, and by co-developing national risk models and assessment tools, PARTneR–2 will assist countries across the Pacific to enhance capability to make risk-informed and effective development decisions.

Climate risk assessment tools training for Cook Islands
Participants highlighted key insights from their comprehensive training on climate risk assessment tools, including RiskScape and the Pacific Resilience Nexus. They reflected on valuable lessons learned from both recent and past trainings, sharing how they intend to apply this knowledge in their workplaces to enhance community resilience. The goal is to strengthen the capacity of local agencies to make informed climate risk decisions by providing practical, hands-on training and facilitating high-level consultations to incorporate risk analysis into national decision-making processes. Funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and delivered in partnership with the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA), this training empowers local agencies with advanced technologies to foster a more resilient Pacific.
