The Pacific Islands Emergency Management Alliance (PIEMA)
Supported by New Zealand and Australia governments, PIEMA is at the forefront of training in emergency and disaster management across the Pacific. Working closely with National Disaster Management Offices and key emergency management agencies, the PIEMA project implements capacity-building activities to strengthen collaboration, communication, and consistent methodology, which ultimately leads to an increase in effectiveness when responding to disasters.
While technology, infrastructure and equipment are important, the emphasis of this project is on the people working in the sector, by improving interactions between Pacific emergency management agencies to influence change that builds trust, leadership, and teamwork.

Building Safety and Resilience in the Pacific II (BSRP)
The Building Safety and Resilience in the Pacific II project aims to reduce the impact of disasters including those caused by climate change on Pacific Island countries. BSRP II will focus on tackling underlying drivers of risk through greater understanding, preparedness, policy support and educational-based initiatives at local, national and regional levels. Critical to the success of BSRP II, is working alongside governments and partners to better prepare for disaster and ultimately recover and respond more effectively whilst ensuring multisector partners are recognised as drivers of change.

The Pacific Humanitarian Warehousing Program (PHWP)
The Pacific Humanitarian Warehousing Program is a Pacific - led, multi-country and multi-donor program that aims to enhance humanitarian warehousing capability in all 14 countries and Timor-Leste. The goal of PHWP is that by 2031 Pacific Island countries and Timor-Leste are better prepared for and more resilient to the impact of disasters; the objective of the PHWP is that humanitarian partners work together to respond to disasters increasingly independently and sustainability at the local level. The Program is designed as an eight-year program starting in 2024 and will be managed by the Pacific Community (SPC) supported by a specialist infrastructure Support unit.
